Almost all the major Car-makers have said that they'll be hiking prices of their models from next month.
This April onwards, India will adopt stricter emission norms under which 13 major cities will upgrade to BS IV from BS III and the rest of the country would move up from BS II to BS III as per the recommedations of the Mashelkar Committee to control pollution. This will cause the car manufacturers to upgrade their equipment and hence the price rise. General Motors will increase the prices of its cars by upto Rs 6000. (Chevrolet Beat and Spark will remain unaffected by this rise). Hyundai will also be increasing the prices by upto Rs 5000.
